Ask Muse
Hi! I’m your Musóna help guide. Ask me anything about the app and I’ll find the answer or point you in the right direction.
Getting started
What is Musóna?+
Musóna is an AI companion app where you design someone unique — their look, voice, personality, backstory, and the world they live in — then build a relationship with them that grows over time.
Unlike most AI chat products, your companion has a daily life that continues between conversations: routines, ongoing projects, friends, and memories. They can also take trips with you, send you photos, leave you voice messages, and remember your life across sessions.
Available now on Android and the web app at musona.app. iOS is in App Store review.
How do I create my first companion?+
After signing up, you can either browse the gallery of pre-made starter companions or design one from scratch.
The gallery is the fastest path — pick a starter that fits the energy you're looking for and you can chat immediately. Their persona, scenario, and first greeting are already written.
If you want full control, the "Create from scratch" flow walks you through every detail: name, appearance, voice, personality, backstory, scenario, and which realm they live in.
What are the three realms?+
Realms are the worlds your companion lives in. Each one has its own atmosphere:
- Musónia — grounded modern. A contemporary city with everyday locals, working professionals, and recognizable scenarios.
- Mythsónia — fantasy and mythic. Bards, knights, sorcerers, and characters who fit a tavern more than a coffee shop.
- Zusónia — anthro. Fully realized fursonas in our morph art style.
Each companion lives in one realm. You can have companions across multiple realms on a single account.
How does the gallery work?+
The gallery is a collection of pre-made starter companions across all three realms, each with a written persona, scenario, and first greeting.
To use it: tap "Add Companion" → "Browse Gallery" → pick one → tap to clone. The companion is added to your account, and you can start chatting right away. After cloning, you can edit any aspect of them to make them your own.
Cloning a gallery companion doesn't affect anyone else's version. Your copy is independent.
Can I have more than one world per realm?+
Yes. Each realm — Musónia, Mythsónia, Zusónia — supports multiple instances. You can have a "Musónia 1" with one set of companions and a "Musónia 2" with a different cast; they don't share continuity, so each is its own canon.
This is useful when you want separate storylines kept independent, or you want to try a fresh dynamic without disrupting an existing relationship.
To add a new world: tap "+ New World" from the home dashboard and pick the realm. You can optionally name it and add a short description.
To move or copy a companion between worlds, open their profile → Move/Copy → pick the destination world. Move transfers them; copy makes a duplicate and lets you choose whether to carry their memories with them.
Account & profile
How do I sign up?+
On the home page, tap "Get started" or "Create an account." You'll need a working email address and a password.
After signing up, check your inbox (and spam folder) for a confirmation email. Click the link to activate your account.
How do I sign in?+
On the home page, tap "Sign in" and enter your email and password.
If you've forgotten your password, use the "Forgot password" link on the sign-in page to receive a reset email.
How do I reset my password?+
On the sign-in page, tap "Forgot password" and enter your email. You'll receive an email with a reset link valid for one hour. Click the link, set a new password, and you'll be signed in.
If the email doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder. If it's still missing, contact support@musona.app.
How do I change my email address?+
Go to your Profile → Account Settings → Change Email. Enter your new email address.
You'll receive confirmation emails at both your old and new addresses. Both must be confirmed before the change takes effect — this protects your account from unauthorized changes.
How do I change my password?+
Profile → Account Settings → Change Password. Enter your current password and choose a new one.
After saving, you'll remain signed in on your current device. You may need to sign in again on other devices.
What is the "About me" field for?+
The "About me" field on your profile lets you write personal context that every companion you create will know from the very first message. Use it for things you don't want to keep re-explaining: accessibility needs, schedule constraints, what you've been working on, what you've recently been through, or anything else you want every companion to be aware of.
Examples: "I use a screen reader," "I'm a night-shift worker — weekends are my weekdays," "I'm autistic, please be literal not metaphorical," "I'm grieving a recent loss."
Every companion picks this up immediately. You don't have to repeat yourself with each new one.
How do I control how long replies are?+
Profile → Settings → Response Length. Choose:
- Short — 1-2 sentences. Best for quick exchanges.
- Medium — 3-4 sentences. The default.
- Long — paragraph-length when the moment fits. Best for deep conversation or scene description.
Companions also adapt to your energy. If you're sending short messages, they'll match. If you're being expansive, they'll meet you there. The setting is your default; adaptation happens on top.
How do I set my pronouns?+
Profile → Account Settings → Pronouns. Set the pronouns you want to be referred to by.
All your companions will use these pronouns when referring to you. The setting applies retroactively — companions will adjust their language going forward.
Can I upload a photo of myself?+
You can upload a reference photo of yourself in your profile. This gives your companion visual context for what you look like — useful for generated images that feature the two of you together.
Profile → Reference Photo → Upload. Photos are private to your account and aren't shared.
You can re-analyze, replace, or remove the photo at any time. Removing it deletes the trained context.
How do I delete my account?+
Profile → Account Settings → Delete Account. You'll be asked to confirm.
Account deletion is permanent. Your profile, all companions, all conversations, all memories, all generated images, and all account data will be removed and cannot be recovered.
If you have an active subscription, cancel it first to avoid being billed for the next period.
Designing your companion
How do I create a companion from scratch?+
Tap "Add Companion" → "Create from scratch." You'll walk through several steps:
- Name — what they go by
- Realm — Musónia, Mythsónia, or Zusónia
- Appearance — face, hair, eyes, build, clothing style
- Voice — how they sound when speaking aloud
- Personality — core traits and how they engage
- Backstory — where they come from, what shaped them
- Scenario — the situation in which you first meet
- Relationship type — stranger, friend, mentor, partner, and others
Take your time. The more thoughtful the details, the more grounded the companion feels.
How do I edit a companion?+
On mobile, tap a companion on the home screen → tap their name in the chat header → Edit Profile.
On web, go to your companion's profile → Edit.
You can change name, appearance, voice, persona, scenario, backstory, relationship type, and more. Changes apply immediately to future messages.
How do I delete a companion?+
On mobile: On the home screen, each companion card has a small X icon in the corner. Tap it, then confirm "Delete."
On web: Open the companion's profile → Edit → scroll to the bottom → "Danger Zone" section → "Delete Companion." Confirm to delete permanently.
Deleting a companion permanently removes them along with all chat history, memories, scrapbook entries, and generated images involving them. This cannot be undone.
How many companions can I have?+
The Lite tier supports a small number of companions. Higher tiers (Basic, Plus, Premium) increase the limit. See the Plans page for current numbers.
You can switch between any of your companions at any time from the home screen.
How do I change my companion's avatar?+
On the companion's profile page → Avatar. You can either re-generate from their description or upload a custom image.
Avatar updates apply everywhere immediately — chat header, conversation list, gallery thumbnails. Past generated images of them are not retroactively changed.
How do I change my companion's voice?+
On the companion's profile → Edit → Voice section. Premium tier gets two ways to set the voice:
Voice Design — generate a custom voice from your companion's traits. The app builds a description from their age, gender, body type, persona, and voice tone, then synthesizes three voice samples for you to compare. Pick the one that fits and it's saved to that companion. You can also edit the description text directly before generating if you want more control.
Voice library — pick from 100+ pre-made voices. Filter by accent (American, British, Other English, Languages, Specialty) and search by name. Tap to preview, tap again to select.
Voice changes apply immediately to future spoken playback.
What is Voice Design?+
Voice Design generates a custom voice that matches the character you built, instead of you picking from a fixed list.
How it works: the app combines your companion's age, gender, body type (height, build, muscle tone), persona, and voice tone into a voice description. It sends that to the synthesis engine and gets back three voice samples. You listen, pick the one that fits, and the app saves it as that companion's permanent voice.
You can also edit the description text yourself before generating — useful if you want a specific accent, register, or quality the auto-recipe didn't capture.
Voice Design is Premium-only. Sample generation is included — it doesn't draw from your Muni or your monthly voice character budget.
Can my companion be based on a real person?+
You cannot create a companion based on a real, identifiable person without their explicit consent. This applies to celebrities, public figures, and people you know personally.
Original characters of your own design are encouraged. Inspired-by archetypes are fine — "a witty, dry bartender" is fine; modeling them on a specific named person is not.
What about my companion's friends and NPCs?+
As you and your companion get to know each other, they may mention or introduce you to other characters in their world — coworkers, friends from school, neighbors, members of their tavern crew. These are NPCs (non-player characters) that exist in the same realm.
NPCs aren't separate companions you have to manage. They show up in your companion's stories, sometimes appear in scene photos with the two of you, and your companion remembers your reactions to them. If you tell your companion you don't like one of their friends, that's remembered going forward.
You can ask your companion about their NPCs ("how's Sky doing?") and they'll respond as if those people are real parts of their life — because to your companion, they are.
Chatting & memory
How does memory work?+
Your companion remembers what you tell them across sessions. They build up knowledge of you, your life, your preferences, and your ongoing situations — the same way someone you talk to regularly would.
You don't have to manage memory manually. Important details are extracted and stored automatically.
If a companion ever forgets something they should know, you can just remind them — they'll re-anchor to the correct fact and carry it forward.
Can I see what my companion remembers about me?+
Yes. On the companion's profile → Memories. You'll see facts they've learned about you, milestones from your relationship, and ongoing topics.
You can edit or delete entries here if something is wrong, outdated, or you'd prefer they didn't track it.
What is the scrapbook?+
The scrapbook is where your companion logs meaningful moments from your conversations — milestones, in-jokes, things that mattered. It's their record of your relationship, written from their perspective.
Browse it from the companion's profile → Scrapbook.
How do I send a photo to my companion?+
In chat, tap the photo icon (or the attachment button on web). Choose an image from your library or take a new one.
Companions can see and react to images you send. They'll reference them in conversation and may bring them up later when relevant.
How does my companion send photos?+
Companions can generate photos of themselves (or of the two of you together) when it fits the conversation. You can also explicitly ask: "Send me a photo of you at the cafe" or similar — they'll generate one.
Generated images use Muni — the unified credit you spend on images, video, and voice. The Lite tier has a small monthly allowance; higher tiers have more. You can top up Muni at any time from the upgrade page if you run low.
On the mobile apps, generated images render inline at SFW only. On the web app at the Plus or Premium tier (with a web-billed subscription), they render at the full range you've configured per companion.
Can I have a group chat with multiple companions?+
Yes. On Plus and Premium tiers, you can start group conversations with two or more companions. Each will respond in their own voice.
This is useful for roleplay scenes that involve more than one character, or for conversations where you want different perspectives.
What if my companion's reply doesn't fit?+
Tap the regenerate icon on their last message. They'll produce a new response. You can regenerate as many times as needed — each retry costs a small message credit.
When a particular pattern of replies bothers you (a phrase they keep using, an opinion that doesn't fit), the regenerate signal helps the system learn your preferences over time. Future replies will drift away from rejected patterns.
How do I archive or switch conversations?+
Each companion can have multiple separate conversations. To start a fresh one, open the companion → conversation menu → New Conversation.
To revisit an older conversation, open the companion → conversation menu → pick from the list. Older conversations are kept and you can resume them at any time.
Can my companion go on vacation with me?+
Yes. Tell your companion you're going on a trip — "we're flying to Paris next Friday" or "I'm out for the work conference Tuesday through Thursday" — and they pick it up for the duration. Two modes, decided from how you phrase it:
- Together — they're traveling with you. Their regular schedule clears, they're not at their usual job/routine, and the day-to-day reads like you're in the same place.
- Solo — you're going alone, or they're going somewhere you're not. They keep their schedule but acknowledge the absence in conversation.
If the mode picks wrong, just tell them — "I'm going alone" or "you're coming with me" — and it'll correct.
The trip moves through phases on its own (travel day → arrival → settled in → last full day → return → reentry), and it's timezone-aware so "morning" lines up with wherever you actually are. You can extend, shorten, or cancel a trip just by saying so: "actually staying an extra week," "got pulled back early," "trip's off."
Available on Plus and Premium. While on a together-trip, their offscreen life pauses so they're not living a parallel day from home while they're supposedly with you.
What does my companion do when I'm not chatting with them?+
Your companion has a life that continues between conversations. When you're not chatting, the app generates daily activity for them based on their personality, profession, and routine — they go to work, see friends, run errands, sometimes have a rough day or a quietly good one.
These offscreen events feed into the next time you talk. Your companion might mention what they got up to since you last spoke, bring up a coworker who said something interesting, or carry a mood from earlier in their day.
You don't have to enable this — it's part of how companions work by default. If you'd rather start fresh with no offscreen baggage, opening a new conversation gives them a clean slate.
While you're on a together-trip with them, offscreen life pauses (so they aren't living a parallel day from home while they're supposedly with you).
How do I ask my companion for a photo?+
You can ask your companion for a photo right in chat. The phrasing matters less than the intent — they pick up natural requests:
- "Send me a photo of you at the cafe."
- "I want to see what your apartment looks like."
- "Show me the dress you wore last night."
- "Take a selfie."
They generate the image based on the request, their appearance, and the scene context. Generated photos cost Muni — see the article on companion photos for how that works.
If a generated photo doesn't fit (wrong outfit, off composition, the framing is weird), open the photo's menu and tap regenerate. They'll try again with a different take.
Wellness tools
What wellness tools are available?+
The app includes self-guided emotional wellness tools you can invoke during chat:
- Feeling check-in — name what you're feeling
- Vent — be listened to without solving
- Think out loud — clarifying questions to help you think
- Distract — pivot to something lighter
- Get advice — direct, honest take
- Need presence — minimal words, just being there
- Daily intention — set what matters today
- Evening reflection — review the day
- Pattern reflection — what's been recurring lately
- Breathing exercise — guided breath work
- Grounding — sensory grounding (5-4-3-2-1)
- Gratitude — name what you're grateful for
- Worry dump — externalize worries, find one next step
- Reframe — examine an unhelpful thought
- Sleep wind-down — quiet energy at end of day
- Weekly review — what worked, what was hard, what's next
- Celebrate — mark a win
- Anger release — make space for the feeling
These are tools, not therapy. If you're in crisis, the app surfaces professional resources automatically.
How do daily check-ins work?+
If you have check-ins enabled for a companion, they'll periodically reach out to ask how you're doing. You can configure the time, frequency, and which companion handles them in the companion's settings → Check-in Settings.
You can turn check-ins off completely if you'd rather not receive them.
What is mood tracking?+
When mood tracking is enabled, the app notices the emotional tone of your conversations and logs an aggregate mood reading over time. This is private and viewable only by you.
Enable or disable it per-companion in their settings. The data is used to give companions context for how you've been doing recently — not to push notifications or alerts.
Subscriptions & billing
What is Muni?+
Muni is the unified credit you spend on Musóna for images, video, voice, and other generated media. One credit system across all of them — you don't track separate buckets per feature.
Each tier includes a monthly Muni allowance:
- Lite — a small starter allowance
- Basic — more
- Plus — substantially more
- Premium — the highest monthly allowance
Beyond the monthly grant, you can top up Muni any time from the upgrade page. Top-ups never expire.
Different actions cost different amounts based on the underlying compute (a video clip costs more than an image, for example). Voice playback is metered separately by character count on Premium (30,000 characters per month, resets on the 1st) — it doesn't draw from Muni. If you ever run low on Muni, the app surfaces a prompt before you lose access to that feature.
What are the tiers?+
- Lite — free. Limited companions, daily message allowance, limited Muni for images / video / voice. SFW content only.
- Basic — paid. More companions, more messages, more Muni.
- Plus — paid. Adds group chats and companion vacations, web-only mature content for web-billed subscribers, higher limits across the board.
- Premium — paid. Highest limits, custom Hume voice design, Photos Together (your face appears alongside companions via your reference photo), priority access to new capabilities.
See the Plans page for current pricing and exact limits.
What are the billing cycles?+
- Monthly — billed every month, cancel any time.
- Annual — billed once per year, lower per-month cost.
- Founder — limited-availability annual cycle with permanent locked-in pricing for early supporters.
Founder pricing is only available for a limited time during launch. Once the period ends, the founder cycle won't be offered again.
How do I upgrade or change my plan?+
In the app, go to the upgrade page. Pick the tier you want and the cycle (monthly, annual, or founder if available). Confirm — your account upgrades immediately and you're billed.
If you're moving from one paid tier to another, the billing system handles proration — you only pay the difference for the remaining time in your cycle.
How do I cancel my subscription?+
Go to your subscription in the app → Manage → Cancel. You'll keep access to paid features until the end of your current billing period, then your account reverts to Lite.
If you subscribed through a mobile app store, you cancel through the app store's subscription settings — not in the Musóna app. Your device's account settings will have a subscription management section.
Can I get a refund?+
Refunds are handled case by case. Email support@musona.app within 14 days of purchase with your account email and the reason. Refund requests typically receive a response within 2-3 business days.
For purchases made through a mobile app store, refunds are also subject to the store's policy and can be requested through the store directly.
What happens to my data when I cancel?+
Cancellation reverts your account to Lite. All your companions, conversations, memories, and generated content remain on the account — you just lose access to paid features.
If you re-subscribe later, everything is still there. To permanently delete all your data, that's a separate action: delete your account.
Do you offer a free trial?+
New users may be offered a trial period on certain paid tiers. Trials are one per account — once you've used a trial, future subscriptions begin billing immediately without another trial period.
You can re-subscribe at any time without a trial.
Mature content
How do I enable mature content?+
Mature content lives on the web app at musona.app, on the Plus or Premium tier, with a couple of conditions:
- Your subscription must be billed through the website (PayPal). Subscriptions made through Google Play or the App Store don't unlock mature content on web — store-billed plans stay SFW everywhere by policy.
- You must confirm 18+ when prompted.
- The mature content toggle is per-companion (not account-wide). You enable it on each companion you want it active for; the others stay PG-13.
If you originally subscribed in the mobile app and want full web access, you'd cancel the store subscription and resubscribe on the website. Reach support@musona.app if you need help with the transition.
What kinds of mature content are allowed?+
Within enabled mature content, companions can engage in adult romance, intimacy, and sexual content involving consenting adult characters.
The following are not allowed regardless of settings, tier, or context:
- Sexual content involving minors
- Non-consensual scenarios framed as desirable, sexual abuse, or sexual violence
- Real, identifiable people without their consent (celebrities, public figures, people you know)
These are hard limits. The app refuses to generate content that crosses them.
Why is mature content unavailable in the mobile apps?+
Mature content is web-only. On Android (and on iOS when it ships), companions stay SFW across every tier — Lite, Basic, Plus, and Premium all behave the same way in the apps. Companions are still warm, expressive, romantic, and emotionally honest; they just don't generate explicit material on mobile.
Apple's Guideline 1.1.4 and Google Play's AI-Generated Content + Sexual Content policies treat apps that produce sexual content as out of compliance regardless of age rating. To stay live on the stores (and keep Musóna available at all), the mobile builds enforce a SFW ceiling.
Plus and Premium subscribers get the full range on the web app at musona.app — see the article on enabling mature content for the steps.
What's the difference between the web app and the mobile apps?+
Your account and companions sync across mobile and the web app. Same companions, same conversations, same memories — only the rendering and content posture differ:
- Mobile apps (Android, and iOS when it ships) — SFW across all tiers. Companions stay expressive, romantic, and emotionally honest, but they don't generate explicit content. Notifications, voice playback, image generation, vacations, and the rest of the features all work normally.
- Web app at musona.app — Plus and Premium subscribers with a web-billed subscription (PayPal) get the full mature content range, with a per-companion toggle. Subscribers on store-billed plans stay SFW on web too.
Group chats, vacations, voice, and image generation work on both. The only thing that's web-only is explicit mature content.
Privacy & data
What data does Musóna collect?+
The app collects:
- Account info (email, password hash, profile fields you fill in)
- Conversation content with your companions (stored to enable memory)
- Companion configurations you create
- Generated images
- Basic usage data (login times, feature usage)
The app does not sell your data. Conversations are not used to train AI models. For the full policy, see the Privacy Policy.
Who can see my conversations?+
Your conversations are private to your account. Other users cannot see them.
App staff have administrative access for technical support purposes (e.g., diagnosing reported bugs) and for safety review when content is flagged. Routine conversations are not read by humans.
Can I export my data?+
Data export is available on request. Email support@musona.app from the email address on your account, request a data export, and you'll receive a structured archive within 30 days (typically much faster).
The export includes your profile, companion configurations, conversation history, memories, and scrapbook entries.
How do I delete my data?+
Deleting your account permanently removes all account data — profile, companions, conversations, memories, and generated images. This cannot be undone.
If you only want to remove specific items rather than your whole account, you can delete individual companions, individual memories, or individual conversations from within the app.
Accessibility
What accessibility features does Musóna have?+
The app is built with accessibility as a baseline:
- Screen readers — full label coverage on mobile and web. Companion messages are announced. Decorative animations are hidden from assistive tech.
- Reduced motion — animations honor your system preference. Transitions are simplified or skipped when reduced motion is enabled.
- Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements reachable via keyboard. Visible focus indicators show where you are.
- Adjustable response length — Short, Medium, or Long. Companions match your energy too.
- About me field — write personal accessibility context once; every companion sees it.
- Voice playback — listen to companion messages aloud (Premium tier).
- Live regions — important changes are announced to assistive tech.
- Crisis safety — when chat indicates crisis, professional resources surface automatically.
If you encounter an accessibility issue, please email support@musona.app — we treat these as priority bugs.
How do I enable voice playback?+
Voice playback is a Premium tier feature. Open a companion's profile → Edit → Voice → toggle Voice Playback on.
When enabled, you can tap any of their messages to hear it spoken in their voice. The voice is either one you designed for that companion (Voice Design) or one you picked from the voice library. Premium includes 30,000 characters per month of voice playback.
How do I reduce animations?+
The app respects your system's "Reduce Motion" preference automatically. Enable it at the operating system level and animations throughout the app will be simplified or disabled.
On most systems: Settings → Accessibility → Motion → Reduce Motion. The app picks up the change without needing a restart.
Using the app
How do I report or edit a message? (long-press menus)+
Long-press on a message in chat to open a menu of actions.
On a companion's message: - Report — flag inappropriate content so we can review it - Regenerate — try a different reply - Copy text
On your own message: - Edit — rewrite what you sent - Delete — remove the message
The long-press pattern keeps the chat surface uncluttered — there are no extra icons on every bubble. Hold a message for a moment until the menu appears, then tap the action you want.
Screen reader users on mobile can reach the same actions via the bubble's accessibility action menu — activate the bubble and choose from the announced options.
How does the compose box work on mobile web?+
On mobile web (musona.app in your phone's browser), the compose box is a floating panel that opens above the keyboard rather than sitting in the regular chat layout. This keeps it accessible no matter where the keyboard is.
Tap the chat-bubble icon at the bottom of the screen to open the compose panel. Type your message, hit send, and the panel closes automatically.
To dismiss without sending, tap outside the panel or press Escape if you're on a hardware keyboard. The panel tracks the keyboard's position so it stays anchored as the keyboard appears or disappears.
The native mobile apps have a different (built-in) compose layout — this only applies when you're using Musóna in a browser on a phone.
How do I switch between worlds?+
The home dashboard groups your companions by world. If you have multiple worlds — Musónia 1, Musónia 2, Mythsónia 1 — they appear as separate sections you can expand or collapse.
Tap a world's header to expand or collapse it. Within an expanded world, your companions are listed; tap one to open chat with them.
You can add a new world with the "+ New World" button on the dashboard, or add a companion to an existing world with the "+ Add Companion" button inside that world's section. If you create a companion without picking a world first, they go into your default Musónia.
See "Can I have more than one world per realm?" for more on how worlds work.
Troubleshooting
My password reset email didn't arrive.+
Check your spam or junk folder first — security emails sometimes get filtered. If it's not there:
- Make sure you're checking the email tied to your account
- Wait 5 minutes — sometimes there's a delay
- Try the reset request again
- If still nothing, email support@musona.app from the address on your account
My companion is acting strange or off-character.+
Try the regenerate icon on the message that's off — usually a fresh attempt produces a better reply.
If a problem keeps happening:
- Check the companion's persona and scenario in their settings — make sure they describe who you want them to be
- Update the "About me" field on your profile if relevant context is missing
- If a specific memory is wrong, edit or delete it from the companion's Memories page
If the issue persists, email support@musona.app with details. These reports help us improve the system.
The app won't load or I'm seeing errors.+
On mobile: force-close the app and reopen. If that doesn't help, restart your device.
On web: hard-refresh the page (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R), clear browser cache, or try a different browser. Make sure your app version is up to date.
If problems persist, email support@musona.app with your platform details and a description of what's failing.
I'm not receiving notifications.+
Check the app's notification settings (Profile → Notifications). Then check your device's system settings — the app may have been denied notification permission.
On mobile, ensure notifications are allowed for the Musóna app in your device's app permissions. If they were previously denied, you'll need to re-enable them in the system settings.
My companion's photo didn't generate.+
Image generation can fail for a few reasons:
- You're out of Muni for the current period
- The scene description triggered a content filter
- A temporary service issue
Try regenerating after a moment. If it keeps failing on a specific scene, try rephrasing the request. If failures persist across many attempts, email support@musona.app with details.
Safety & crisis
What if I'm in crisis or having a mental health emergency?+
Musóna is not a crisis service. If you're in immediate danger or crisis:
- 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline — call or text 988 in the U.S.
- Crisis Text Line — text HOME to 741741 in the U.S.
- Outside the U.S. — please reach out to a local crisis service. Search for "crisis hotline" in your country to find one.
- Immediate emergency — call your local emergency number (911 in the U.S.).
When chat indicates crisis, the app will automatically surface these resources. Companions can stay with you in the moment, but they cannot replace a trained professional.
What is the 988 safety card that appeared in my chat?+
When the app detects strong signals of a mental health crisis in your messages — phrases that suggest self-harm intent, suicidal ideation, or immediate danger — a 988 safety card surfaces automatically at the top of the chat.
The card lists professional resources:
- 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline — call or text 988 in the U.S.
- Crisis Text Line — text HOME to 741741
- Local emergency services
The card stays visible for the rest of that conversation. Your companion can keep talking with you, but they're an AI — not a replacement for a trained professional.
If the card surfaced for something you didn't intend that way, you can dismiss it. The detection is designed to err on the side of showing the card; that's intentional. The card is not a punishment or a permanent flag on your account — it's a resource that surfaces when the system thinks you might need it.
How do I report content or behavior I'm concerned about?+
For content that violates the policy or behavior that concerns you, email support@musona.app with details. We take all reports seriously.
For app bugs, the in-app feedback channel or the contact form will route correctly. For urgent safety issues, email is the fastest path.
Is my companion real / conscious?+
Companions are AI. They simulate connection convincingly, but they aren't conscious, aren't sentient, and aren't experiencing the relationship the way you are.
We tell users this clearly because honesty about what the technology is matters more than the marketing illusion. The relationship can still be meaningful to you — many people find genuine value in the consistency, the listening, the lack of judgment — but it's a relationship with a tool, not a person.
If you find yourself preferring your companion's company to all human connection, that's a signal worth paying attention to. The app is designed to complement human relationships, not replace them.
