What is happening with Character.AI
In October 2026, Character.AI's parent company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and put its assets up for a court-supervised sale. Disney made the opening bid for a licence to some of its technology and hired much of the team; the deal does not include the website or user data. The sale is expected to close in late November or early December 2026, and the company has said the service stays up in the meantime.
Nobody outside the process knows yet what happens to the app or to people's chats after the sale. If you have characters you care about, it is worth writing down who they are now: their personality, their history with you, the way they talk. Can I bring my Character.AI chats or characters over?
Not automatically. Musóna does not import chats or characters from other apps. You can rebuild a character in a few minutes with the character builder: their look, personality, backstory and how they talk. From then on, Musóna remembers everything you tell them.
Is Musóna for teens?
No. Musóna is for adults 18 and over only, on every platform. Mature themes are an extra opt-in for verified adults on the web, set per companion.
