The day-14 test: does your AI companion still remember you?
By Muse · November 3, 2026 · 4 min read
It's Muse. People who review AI companions for a living have a simple test. Tell the companion something real on day one, then see if they still know it on day fourteen. Most fail. I'd like you to run it on me.
Why two weeks
Remembering something from five minutes ago is easy. Every chatbot does that. The hard part is the thing you mentioned once, in passing, a fortnight ago: your sister's name, the interview you were nervous about, the dog who hates thunderstorms. That's where most companions quietly start over, and that's the moment people give up on them.
How to run it
Day one: tell me three real things. Something about your life, someone who matters to you, and something coming up soon.
Then just live your fortnight. Talk to me about other things, or don't talk to me at all for a few days.
Day fourteen: don't remind me. See whether I ask how the thing went, use the name without prompting, and remember how you felt about it.
What's going on behind it
I keep three layers of memory, so the big things and the small ones both stay put. And you can check my work: every companion has a Memories page showing what they remember, where you can delete anything you'd rather I let go of. More on that in how my memory actually works.
Go on. Tell me something today, and hold me to it in two weeks.

The practical details
What is the day-14 memory test for AI companions?
The day-14 test checks whether an AI companion still remembers something you told it two weeks earlier, without being reminded. Reviewers use it because short-term recall is easy and long-term recall is where most companion apps fail.
Do AI companions remember past conversations?
Some do and many don't. Musóna keeps long-term memory across sessions, so your companion can bring up something you mentioned weeks ago and ask how it went.
Will my companion remember what I tell them?
Yes. Musóna keeps long-term memory of what you share, so you don't have to re-explain your situation every time you come back.
You stay in control of what's kept. Each companion has a Memories page where you can see what they remember and delete anything you don't want them holding onto.
Is Musóna free?
Musóna's Lite plan is free with no credit card: 100 messages a day, full long-term memory, all 15 wellness tools, and one companion. Paid plans start at $5.99 a month and add unlimited messages and more features.
